Just moments after the weigh-in both Thomas Dulorme and Karim Mayfield were at each others throat’s. The incident brought more interest to their fight that took place Saturday night as the co-main event to Kovalev-Agnew. Many fans anticipated a war.
Remember though folks, this is boxing! You come to fight like your gonna have a bar room brawl, usually means bad news. It’s a war of witts, hence the name “the sweet science.”
Both men came into the fight sticking with their intended game plan. Only one mans plan would eventually pay off. That man happened to be Thomas Dulorme, whom won via unanimous decision after 10 rounds of boxing action.
Thomas Dulorme had the reach and height advantage and was able to execute his fight plan accordingly. Thomas Dulorme stayed on the outside and caught Mayfield with sweet left hooks every so often.
Karim Mayfield needed to get inside. At times he did, but the strategy some how backfired. Regardless Karim Mayfield did have his moments as he was able to deliver “hard hitta” counters. There just wasn’t enough steam coming out of the pot in Mayfield’s favor as Dulorme took a majority of the rounds.
With the coaching switch of Thomas Dulorme now training underneath Robert Garcia, Dulorme now has the work ethic and the corner to be in contention for a world title soon.
Karim Mayfield is still young and is still an up and coming force in the light welterweight division. Both men are still on the same path to continue their climb no matter how the outcome of the fight came out.
