Being the son of a legend, weight issues, and other controversy inside and outside the ropes has many fighters wanting to take on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Recent names thrown in the mix have been Andre Ward, Carl Froch, and Gennady Golovkin. Chavez Jr. seemed to like the idea of facing Golovkin and now the possible bout is just about finalized.
Bob Arum has already booked the date and the venue and used his powers to delay a concert by a day. The bout will be scheduled to take place July 12, at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
Another interesting detail is that Gennady Golovkin will be making the move up in weight to fight a 12 round super middleweight fight at the max of 168 lbs.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Gennady Golovkin will be an all out battle with two heavy handed warriors throwing hammers at each other. That equals a very fan friendly battle for the boxing world.
With the fight taking place at 168 it is only relevant that these two men will wish to challenge Andre Ward for his titles in the future. Good news to have some hungry new faces in the super middleweight division.
