Carl Froch vs. George Groves: England Showdown

Carl Froch (31-2-0 22KO’s) vs George Groves (19-0-0 15KO’s) ┬áis now confirmed as official as we now have another Englishmen showdown to take place. (The other being David Haye vs Tyson Fury.) This will be a big match-up not only in the United Kingdom, but all over the world. Carl Froch’s last bout was a sold out venue at the O2 Arena in London. This match also featured George Groves as the co-main event.

The date and venue is not set in stone just yet. The date proposed was to be November 23rd, but since Manny Pacquiao vs Brandon Rios occupy that date and the fight is to air on HBO, Froch vs Groves will be changed to a different date since the network picking up this fight will also be HBO. Since the O2 Arena has success with boxing there is a high chance that the O2 Arena will be the site for the bout.

Carl Froch has a long list of top quality opponents and many speculated that he would be involved with a rematch against Andre Ward (who is having difficulty in finding an opponent.) Carl Froch recently avenged his loss to Mikkel Kessler, but many fans of boxing do not think he will have the same success against Andre Ward if they would’ve re-matched.

George Groves does not have the same draw in the United States as his fellow countrymen Carl Froch has, but George Groves is an undefeated fighter who gets attention in his homeland much like Carl Froch. In Groves last 6 fights he has TKOed 5 of his last 6 opponents. The only man that went the distance out of the 6 men was none other than hard scraper Glen Johnson, but Groves nearly pitched a shut out for his win over Glen Johnson.

This fight looks to be a big time battle and seems like a tough challenge for both men and both men possess the power to lay each other out.
