May Day: Wladimir Klitschko Punishes Francesco Pianeta

May the 4th be with you. A big night for boxing as boxing’s biggest star showcases his talents, Floyd Mayweather Jr. was not the only top boxing superstar performing tonight. Wladimir Klitschko (60-3-0) took care of business first as he battled undefeated fighter Francesco Pianeta (28-0-1) Lets not forget Wladimir Klitschko has been dominating the heavyweight division along with his brother Vitali Klitschko. Both of whom are definite candidates for the top pound for pound fighters in the world. Also like Floyd Mayweather Jr. both brothers are also in the top 100 Forbes list of 2012 for highest paid athletes, of course Floyd Mayweather Jr. holds that number one spot.

With a packed arena as all Klitschko fights are in Germany you wouldn’t think a major fight was happening the same night, or next morning if you reside in Germany. Wladimir Klitschko looked to keep his dominating streak a live and add a loss to the challenger.

Wladimir Klitschko was successful in doing this. Every single round of the fight Klitschko did nothing but punish Francesco Pianeta repeatedly. Delivering double jabs followed by  heavy rights that would constantly drum Pianeta.

Francesco Pianeta would show small spurts of heavy hands tagging Wladimir Klitschko, but it would be no use as Pianeta had no head movement to dodge Wladimir’s assault.

Wladimir Klitschko would down Francesco Pianeta a total of three times throughout the match. The third strike would be the charm as Pianeta would not be able to continue after the knockdown in the sixth round. Referee Ernie Sharif would halt the action after the final knockdown leaving Wladimir Klitschko with his 60th career win in TKO fashion. Francesco Pianeta would get his for loss in the loss column and now holds a record of 28wins 1 loss and 1 draw.

With Wladimir Klitschko aging there are two threats that possibly can harm the Klitshko’s dominating age. Those two men are Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. If Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury do not fight against each other we could see one of the two fighting Wladimir Klitschko. The time would be now due to the aging brothers. Time may not wait for other prospects to build their records.
