Amir Khan was recently kicked to the side when Floyd Mayweather Jr. ended up picking Marcos Maidana instead. Bummed out with the situation Amir Khan wanted to still prove he is ready for the pound for pound king and what better way to do that than to take the co-main event. His opponent none other than a man who wants to try out for Mayweather Jr. himself, Luis Collazo.
Amir Khan has been labeled as a man with a glass in recent times due to lackluster performances and being KO’ed as well as downed in his most recent bouts. Despite his recent woes an Amir Khan vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been in the boxing public minds in the past four years, and boy did Amir Khan come close to landing that match.
We all know speed is one talent that Amir Khan still possesses and some argue that it could be the remedy to give Floyd Mayweather Jr. problems. Now that the fight between the two is not on the table as of now, Luis Collazo will need to worry about that now.
Luis Collazo is a no non-sense type of fighter who comes to bring it and has been on the short end of the stick in close fights. His hard work has eventually paid off as he is now the WBA international welterweight title holder. He grabbed the title last year, but really got a head start on the boxing scene when he knocked out Victor Ortiz in only two rounds.
That victory gave Collazo the guts to call out Floyd, Collazo even wanted to pick the venue.
Now both fighters, Amir Khan and Luis Collazo feel they got something to give Floyd Mayweather problems. Both men get to audition as a threat for the throne come May 3 in Las Vegas. That has a recipe for one thing, a collision course!
Will it be the speed of Amir Khan or the coming to get you brawling style of Luis Collazo that grabs the victory?
