In October of 2013 Vitali Klitschko made it clear he wanted to run for President of the Ukraine. He is now making drastic steps to prove he is not joking around. Vitali Kitschko has vacated his WBC heavyweight title in order to pursuit politics and focus on becoming a future President of the Ukraine.
Vitali has made 9 title defenses of the WBC strap dating back to 2008. If Vitali should ever choose to comeback to boxing a deal has been made with the WBC to let Vitali fight for the WBC heavyweight title. Vitali Klitschko is now 42 years of age so a return will seem highly doubtful once he is in contention in Ukraine politics.
It is a bummer to see Vitali Klitschko go, but now with the WBC heavyweight title being vacated this may be a spark to make the heavyweight division quite interesting once again. There are many quality contenders that are making their way up the heavyweight division so a possible frenzy will be taking place between these heavyweights as they fight for a beautiful green belt to go around their waist. Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir may also want to keep the belt in the family if he is not too busy making his defenses of the 3 other major belts of the heavyweight division.
Many names that come to mind that can bring the excitement factor back are listed below.
Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury, Bermane Stiverne, Tomasz Adamek, and Cristobal Arreola
