Juan “The Baby Bull” Diaz was last known in the boxing world for losses he has taken from Paul Malignaggi and Juan Manuel Marquez. He was also known for going to law school and took almost three years off from the ring. Juan Diaz returned this year and after being the co-main event for Mike Alvarado vs Ruslan Provodnikov the return of “The Baby Bull” is imminent for contention of a world title.
Juan Diaz on a Saturday night in front of a sold out crowd in Denver, Colorado at the 1st Bank Center took on Juan Santiago. The action was pressed by Juan Diaz from the start of the first bell as Diaz put on a non-stop attack on Juan Santiago. Juan Diaz was living up to his name “Baby Bull” charging forward with clean and hard combos to Juan Santiago’s face.
Although there were many flurries delivered by Diaz on Santiago, Juan Santiago was able to look good in a couple of the middle rounds. Juan Diaz did land the heavier shots and was hard to give a winning round to Juan Santiago. You did have to admire the heart of Juan Santiago as he stayed up and went toe to toe with Juan Diaz for all 10 rounds of fight action.
The end of the contest had Juan Diaz raising his arms in victory as he won via unanimous decision. The scorecards by the judges made the fight look as if it were a near shutout, but the action from both men told a different story. The fight was action packed and highly entertaining. Juan Diaz still shows he has the fan friendly fighting style and will be on his way to fight for a title in 2014.
