Paul Malignaggi is penciled in to face young undefeated star Shawn Porter on a card to be headlined by Devon Alexander. Alexander vs Khan is a whole topic stirring up the welterweight division. If Devon Alexander does not fight Amir Khan than that leaves Zab Judah and Paul Malignaggi as the next opponents for Devon Alexander.
So far though, Paul Malignaggi is the co-main event and his opponent is to be Shawn Porter. The fight is to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York and be televised on Showtime by way of Golden Boy Promotions. The fight is also in place to be build hype for the boxing world for Golden Boy and Showtime’s Pay-Per-View match between Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana which takes place the following week.
Paul Malignaggi last opponent was Adrien Broner. Broner defeated Paul Malignaggi in a close battle via split decision. Malignaggi was the busier fighter, but Adrien Broner seemed to land the harder shots in volume throughout the contest.
As Paul Malignaggi looks to rebound, Shawn Porter looks to be the next star at welterweight. Whomever shall win the fight between the two will be in contention for one of the major straps in the welterweight division. Will it be the young rising star or the veteran?
