If you missed the fights that took place on Saturday night, most of them were a bore, but there was one fight that ended by KO in the first round that got the boxing world buzzing. Curtis Stevens smashed Saul Roman in just one round for his 4th straight victory after two years of being out of the boxing spectrum.
With this win Curtis Stevens is now looking at a potential match-up between himself and Gennady Golovkin in November of 2013. Boxing fans were trying to figure out who could face Golovkin next, directly after his win over Matthew Macklin. Now Curtis Stevens definitely has his name in the hat and now looks like the prime candidate.
August 17th could potentially change Curtis Stevens chances if Daniel Geale or Darren Barker have their chances to put their bid in when Geale takes on Barker in just a couple weeks. If the Daniel Geale vs Darren Barker fight is a snoozer look for Curtis Stevens to get his title shot against Golovkin.
Whatever the case may be, one thing we will see before September is the announcement of Golovkin’s next opponent.
Below are the highlights from the Stevens knockdowns and KO versus Saul Roman.
