Mikey Garcia just needed only 4 rounds to dispose of Juan Manuel Lopez. Since the start of the match the technical skills of Garcia were on showcase. Garcia downed Lopez in the 2nd round with a straight right hand. Mikey would stay patient and not rush for the finish in that 2nd round.
JuanMa would taunt Garcia in hopes Garcia would take the bait, but Mikey’s boxing intelligence and would give Garcia the patience once again to wait for a Juan Manuel Lopez mistake.
The mistake took place in the 4th round when Lopez got careless hoping to land big shots on Mikey Garcia. Garcia would land another flush right hand that would hurt Lopez. Lopez trying to throw back after the shot would only leave himself open for another powerful shot, the left hook of Garcia. This shot would floor Lopez once again and for the final time. Juan Manuel Lopez’s night was over.
Juan Manuel Lopez looked like an old 30 year old fighter, but however he has only lost to two men, Orlando Salido and now Mikey Garcia. Lopez has a lot of fighting left in the tank, but maybe not against the cream of the crop.
Mikey Garcia would still be left without a title to go home with due to being two pounds over the 126 lbs weight limit. Mikey Garcia says he still plans to fight in that class, but his options are open to go to the 130 lbs category. Rocky Martinez was present at the match and could be a possible opponent if Garcia makes the jump up to junior lightweight.
Mikey Garcia’s options are wide open as he is too good to go without a belt for too long.
