Mickey Garcia has chosen his next opponent and that will be Juan Manuel Lopez. The match is scheduled to take place at the AT&T center in San Antonio, Texas. The same venue in which the Canelo Alvarez vs. Austin Trout bout took place. Should be close to a sell out as boxing fans love the Mexico vs. Puerto Rico rivalries.
Juan Manuel Lopez (33-2-0) is a heavy handed brawler who is coming off of two KO wins back to back after being defeated by Orlando Salido. The only two losses from Lopez’s career had come from the hands of Orlando Salido.
Mickey Garcia (31-0-0) defeated Orlando Salido in his last fight. Mickey Garcia was dominating the fight until Garcia broke his nose due to an accidental head butt and ended up with a technical decision win over Orlando Salido. Orlando touched the canvas twice in the first, and again in rounds 3, and 4. The fight ended after 8 rounds of action.
Mickey Garcia will be the favorite due to his undefeated record that goes along with a nice fundamentally sound boxing skill set. Also the fact that he was able to win against Orlando Salido the only person Juan Manuel Lopez has lost against will stack the odds furthermore against Juan Manuel Lopez. The heavy hands of Juan Manuel Lopez would have to penetrate the defense of Mickey Garcia in order for Lopez to beat Garcia.
Will that happen? That is the question that will make this fight interesting. Juan Manuel Lopez was also once the man on top of the division, so he will be fighting to gain the recognition and respect once again. This will also add excitement to the fight come June 15, 2013 when the two will do battle. Undercards are to be announced soon.
