As I was looking over the fight card lineup for Saturdays Top Rank event at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada I thought to myself, what other card I’m I really interested in? Sure the U.S. Olympian is continuing his climb, but I am still waiting til he gets near the top of the steps. I will continue to follow Jose Ramirez, but his big wars will be in the future.
After reviewing the card I did not need to look to far behind the main feature between Brandon Rios and Mike Alvarado to find another worthy battle. The war I speak of should be the co-main event.
Featured on many un-televised major cards Terrance Crawford has a record 19-0-0 with 15 of those wins coming by knockout. Some of his brutal power can be found on good ole YouTube. The undefeated prospect is getting his shot and he plans to take it. He might just have what it takes to catch the eye of the boxing world. He knows what he is up against. So who is Terrance Crawford’s opponent?
None other than Breidis Prescott, known for the 1st round KO over Amir Khan. Also known for the epic lose to Mike Alvarado whom he was winning against and he also damaged Mike Alvarado’s lip pretty badly, but would lose in the 10th round due to TKO delivered by Alvarado with 1:53 to go in the fight.
We know what Prescott is capable of. We might witness what Crawford is all about. Will it be the tough vet whom has always been right at the edge to the title, or is his career coming to a close and will the young riser hop onto the mainstream boxing scene? Only time will tell. Seems like this could be the fight to get the crowd and both Rios and Alvarado prepped for war.
