Don’t Bank on it: Seth Mitchell Needs A New Opponent

In the later rounds of 2012 Johnathon Banks scored a sensational knockout over Seth Mitchell. Using the smarts that would’ve have made Emanuel Steward proud. Before his November match-up Banks also was coaching  Wladimir Klitschko for a bout. With a full plate of boxing the student of the game also showed he was a teacher. He gave a lesson to Mitchell on how patience and smarts could pay off.

To be sure the Banks victory was not just luck, Banks and Mitchell were set to go to war once again on February 16. That now will have  to wait until a later date.  Banks has broken his thumb and may need 6 to 8 weeks to heal. This was suppose to be the co-feature of the Broner vs Rees bout at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I was hoping for this bout due to the lack of interest Rees brings to the fight game as a Broner opponent.

What’s the deal? Boxing gets no love for the month of love. Banks will be added to the growing list of other boxing cancellations. Ward shoulder injury leads to Pavlik retirement. Danny Garcia injury postponement vs Judah. Alexander vs. Brook postponed for a second time, now Alexander somehow scored a Mayweather match-up.

I banked on 2013 being a great sequel to 2012. Boxing was coming out of the recession. Please as a fight fan lets get this year going and bring back a boxing renaissance.
