Many people had the first bout as the 2012 fight of the year, now they are set to do it again. Brandon Rios will fight Mike Alvarado again March 30 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Nevada. A fight I plan to attend.
Last time I talked to Rios was during the Pacquiao vs. Marquez IV fight week at the MGM. He was there scouting Manny Pacquiao trying to be the next in line for a super bout with big bucks written all over it. Of course Juan Manuel Marquez felt differently about that changing history with his brutal knockout. Now Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Manny Pacquiao is set for a super fight on Mexican Independence Day weekend in September.
The good news for us as boxing fans is more rivalries to continue in 2013. Part 2 of Rios vs. Alvarado should be just like the first one. It is almost a guarantee We can only wonder if it will last longer and who the victor will be. Remember Alvarado had a lead in rounds won, but Bam Bam’s relentless come forward attack proved to pay off. This will most likely be the early fight of the year candidate when they battle and seems like it could last for the rest of 2013. Every once in awhile sequels can be better than the original, so lets hope that’s the case when these two do battle once again.
