The big boxing news of the weekend from Las Vegas was Danny Swift, swiftly moving up the superstar ladder. Not many people know this, but there was another boxer trying to make news of his own also in Las Vegas.
Anthony Mundine vs. Bronco McKart took place also in Vegas down the road at the Palms hotel and casino.
Knocking McKart down twice in the 7th round, Mundine pulled off a successful win in TKO fashion. Mundine dominated the fight at all times. However this fight was under the radar compared to the Haye and Garcia wins. The only reason I am mentioning this fight is because of the things said after the bout. Anthony Mundine is trying hard to get a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. After his win, Floyd Mayweather Sr. entered the ring and Anthony Mundine expressed his feeling to Mayweather Sr. about his desire to fight his son. Mayweather Sr. told Mundine he is no match for his son. That is about how 99 percent of boxing fans feel too.
Mundine also said he would like to fight Saul Alvarez or Miguel Cotto in order to land a fight with Mayweather Jr. Mundine also told rapper 50 cent his desires. 50 cent was also ringside during the event. Mundine has a long way to go in order to accomplish his dream and age is not on his side. He did however throw his name in the hat as a future opponent for Mayweather Jr., Canelo, or Cotto.
My advice for Mundine is to keep calling out the stars and rack up the wins. Strange events has filled boxing this year, so who knows maybe Mundine can fight a big name opponent in the immediate future.
