I have some good news and some bad news to report. The good news, Manny Pacquiao will not take the November 10th rematch against Timothy Bradley. The bad news, Pacman has decided to take a fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Ho-Hum.
I’m not sure which rematch I would like to see less. I suppose a fourth fight with Marguez will be slightly more entertaining than watching Pacquiao destroy Bradley all over again, but what are we going to see in the fourth fight that we haven’t already seen in the first three? We already know exactly what’s going to happen.
It’s going to be a close fight and Pacquiao will struggle. Marquez will probably win, but it won’t matter because Pacman will be rewarded a close decision anyways.
Is anyone else tired of seeing the same thing over and over again?
I understand Pacquiao doesn’t have a lot of opponents to choose from. With Mayweather in jail, his options are limited. Still, I would rather him take a rematch with Miguel Cotto before seeing him fight Marquez again. I’d even be in favor of Manny taking some time off to get his personal life in-order while waiting for Money May to get out of jail. They could then try to make the mega fight happen sometime next year.
A little break from fighting wouldn’t hurt Pacquiao at all.
Personally, I would love to see him forget Mayweather all together and take just one more fight then retire. I’d like to see him meet Sergio Martinez at 160lbs and then ride off into the sunset. A fight against Maravilla would undoubtedly take A LOT out of Pacquiao and Manny would take a ton of punishment. That’s why the only way this fight could happen is if it would definitely be Pacman’s last hurrah.
But heck, I should stop dreaming. We’ll see Pacquiao vs. Marquez VI before we ever see Pacquiao vs. Martinez.
