It has been a couple weeks since the new year and after seeing The Fighter over the weekend I was reminded of the great trilogy of fights that Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward gave us. Arguably these fights were the greatest of the decade, and maybe of all time. Unfortunately Arturo met his match not in the ring, but in a woman with a master plan.

The total travesty that surrounds Arturo’s death burns not just in my mind, but in my heart and even my soul. I ask how a fighter like this a gladiator willing to go out on his shield on any given night, be strapped with the moniker of suicide. A man that loved life, that fought all out, and enjoyed every moment outside the ring, maybe a little to much have this attached to him. Suicide? Come On, boxing should here his young heart beating now, even more than it did during his epic fights. The truth needs to be known! Thunder, that’s what they called him. I ask, can you hear him?

The truth needs to be known, and I won’t let his memory just fade away. Arguably Arturo, a throwback fighter from the past, was, during his career one if not the most entertaining fighter of our time. Arturo’s fights four times landed on the best of the year list. Why? Because in all honesty his will and heart overshadowed his talent. I watch him and see style and the movement of a true boxer. He could have just out-boxed many, but his will often found him trading blow after blow, even after his trainers begged him just to box.

The heart and soul is a powerful thing and this man had, probably if It’s possible, to much of both. That’s why it’s so sad that the word suicide, quitter, even be associated with him. Those in the know, his manager, friends, and family, and followers like myself know the truth.

THIS MAN DIDN”T KNOW HOW TO QUIT! Tears from the sky fall, and the darkness is illuminated by Arturo’s bright light. Arturo’s punches resonated like thunder. Please all of you that love boxing and it’s true warriors don’t ever forget. The truth needs to be known. The last bell cannot sound until we all here the thunder.

Arturo Gatti and Mickey Ward’s fights in my opinion were the best fights over the last ten years. What do you think?
