Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga: Junito Plans Punishment on El Matador

Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga has just recently been scheduled to take place on March 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and both fighters are already starting to talk trash.

Most boxing fans and experts both agree that this should be an easy victory for Cotto, but there could be some fireworks during the opening rounds. Whichever the case, Cotto says Mayorga will be left beaten before the final bell.

“Mayorga has shown on a few different occasions, that most of what he says and does is outside of the ring, and inside [the ring] he’s left beaten by his opponents. I guarantee that this will be the next occasion [where Mayorga gets left beaten],” Cotto told Fanaticosa.

Considering Mayorga hasn’t fought a quality opponent in over 2 years, I sure as heck hope Cotto can win decisively on March 12th. Mayorga knows he can’t compete with the top level of competition anymore. The only reason he’s still fighting is for the money.

Oh, now you are hoping that Cotto wins?

A couple of days ago it was a full gone conclusion!

Mayorga has an excellent chance here. He is the much stronger man and stronger and harder hitting than anyone Cotto has faced as yet. How will Cotto react when he is yet again getting manhandled? More knees I reckon.

What has hurt Ricardos performances in the past is being rusty and unfit. Watch the 1st round of the Trinidad fight, no one has been able to bully Felix like that, only fighter who are naturally a couple of divisions higher.

This time however, Mayorga will be the fighter who has had recent, he won’t have a shed load of weight to lose and will start the camp sharp, whereas Cotto will have been out for 9 months. Regardless of the quality of Michael Walker, he is a strong middleweight that Andy Lee. Ouldnt drop. Mayorga proved he’s still a finger at 37 by taking the fight on only a fewu weeks notice after being out for over 2 yearsand having enough stamina to not only fight a decent pace in to the 9th round but to also wobble and drop Walker!

Cotto is looking to make money and doesn’t realise the fight he has just got himself in to. An active sharp Mayorga is he’ll for anyone smaller than him like Cotto,if he’d had a warm up before Mosley, he wouldn’t have tired and would have taken that one too. Margarita was supposedly world clas but couldnt last as long against Mosley as an unfit inscribe Mayorga!

Ross Le Brun is an idiot. Cotto is a world class fighter and mayorga is old and past his time. May be tuff for cotto because mayorga is bigger but Cotto will definetly take this one.

      RLB,

I’m a little confused by your comments.

Your novel above was basically a summary of how Cotto will most likely lose this fight and then you say Cotto will knock him out in round 9…..?

ML, don’t be confused. It’s just that someone is too gutless to put their name to that drivel. Check the spelling of the names.

we all know cotto is the favarite of the two. but cotto cannot take this fight lightly. even at 37 ricardo mayorga is still a force of nature. it would be funny to see el matador “a nobody” knock cotto out. anything can happen, this is boxing, may the best man win!

  8. j.r. says:

so what if ricardo mayorga has 7 defeats, but he’s boxed the best of best out there. theres lots of boxers that are undefeated (j.chavez jr)etc but who have they fought? put them to the test, and lets see how they would do? if ricardo mayorga took boxing serious, he to would be a world top fighter, but he doesn’t! and yet still manage to be a 3x world champ. explain!

Cotto is top class but he lacks heart. I personally like Mayorga as a fighter. If he fights for love Mayorga wins.Cotto needs to dig real deep to win

  10. agusto says:

If Mayorga fights for a woman, he’ll win. Is that what you mean for the word “love”, julio?

Well you say Mayorga is just fighthing for money, NEWSFLAH you dope they are all fighthing for money, bottom line just like Mayorga is done, Cotto isnt that far behind. It is going to be a very interesting fights of two washed up fighters, bottom line who ever want more money in the future will win.

Agusto, what Julio meant is “his love of boxing” . . not of a woman. I guess he just missed to type the word boxing. Right, Julio?
