Manny Pacquiao vs. Antonio Margarito Generates 1.15 million PPV Buys

Manny Pacquiao is the current pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and along with Floyd Mayweather he is also the sports biggest pay-per-view attraction. According to figured announced by HBO Sports, Pacman’s fight against Antonio Margarito generated 1.15 million PPV Buys and $64 million in domestic revenue.

“We’re thrilled with the performance,” HBO pay-per-view executive Mark Taffet said. “There is a real buzz around boxing right now, and fans are looking forward to some great fights.”

For a Filipino boxer to be embraced by the American population like Pacquiao has been is nearly unheard of. His last five fights have resulted in over 5 million PPV buys and that includes his March fight against Joshua Clottey who was an unknown name to most casual boxing fans.

Only God knows how many buys a Mayweather-Pacquiao PPV would sell, but it would undoubtedly break all PPV records.

Let’s hope Mayweather finds his balls soon and agrees to fight him.
